AFL CAREER:

Aaron Humphrey, former Texas Longhorn, blocks a field goal

Aaron Humphrey played Arena League Football with the Austin Wranglers from 2003 to 2006. In the 2005 season, he started 12 of 14 games, and recorded a career high of 26.5 total tackles. He led the team with 2.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles. Aaron finished the season with 3 passes defended, 2 quarterback hurries, 2 passes caught for 21 yards, and two touchdowns on offense.

Aaron signed as a free agent with the Wranglers in December, 2003, playing 13 games and receiving AFL All-Rookie Honors.

He recorded 16.5 tackles, 3 sacks, 3 passes defended, 4 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a quarterback hurry. Additionally, he recorded 2 receptions for 21 yards, and the team's only safety at Georgia.

NFL & XFL

In 2002, Humphey signed with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, and waived prior to start of regular season. He was drafted by the NFL Europe League’s Rhein Fire in the fifth round of the 2002 NFLEL free agent draft.

In 2001 he signed as a free agent with the NFL’s New York Jets, and was waived prior to start of regular season. He was then drafted by the XFL’s Chicago Enforcers where he played Defensive End and finished the season with 53 tackles and three sacks. In 2000, Aaron signed with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and was waived prior to start of the regular season.

COLLEGE:

Aaron ranks second on University of Texas all-time tackles for loss (50.5), and eighth on the Longhorn career sack chart (24.5). He started 43 of 46 career games at both Defensive End and Linebacker positions. He recorded 20 sacks at Defensive End during his last two seasons at Texas.

In 1999 Aaron earned the Longhorn’s Most Valuable Player award. In 1996 he won the Ft. Worth Star Telegram Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year award.

Aaron finished his college career with 330 tackles, 19 passes defended, 10 forced fumbles, and 7 fumble recoveries.

BACKGROUND:

Aaron Humphrey attended Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas, where he was awarded Two-time District Defensive Player of the Year. His record there includes 126 tackles and 14 sacks as a senior; 92 tackles and 10 sacks as a junior.

During his collegiate career, at the University of Texas, he majored in sports management. And in 2005 - 2006, Aaron was employed there as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, helping the Longhorns to a 13-0 record and the National Football Championship!
